One day, the publisher of Thisai Ettum magazines,
Kurinji Velan, called my father and told that I was going to get an award from
the government. Tamilnadu’s Chief
Minister, Dr J Jayalalitha’s secretary was going to give the award. I was very happy. Just the next day, my grandparents were
coming to Chennai to meet us. The award
ceremony was held at உலகத் தமிழாராய்ச்சி நிறுவனம். That
award was given on 30 – 9 – 2015 as it was International Translation Day. So, on the day, we went to the place. First, I and my father were called to the
office. My sister also wanted to come
in. So, she was also allowed to come
in. My mother and my grandparents were
told to sit at the auditorium which was upstairs. The secretary arrived. He sat at his chair and was writing
something. He gave me a pen as a
gift. Many people came and congratulated
me. Then after about half an hour, we
went to the auditorium. The
people who were going to get the award were a famous translator named Arima M
Srinivasan, the publisher of Thisai Ettum magazines, as I told you, Kurinji
Velan, a short – film director Rajmohan and finally me. Before the awards were given, a book written
by the secretary himself was released. After
the awards were given, I spoke. When I said
that I have a blog, everybody clapped. A
big round of applause was given at the end of the speech. Then after the function, many people came and
asked my blog address and e – mail id. A
reporter from The Tamil Hindu came and asked my full details. And at last, we happily returned home. I will never forget this day.
As I told you, the news came in The Tamil Hindu. I have attached the link below.
