274. Captain Phillips.

There was a man named Richard Phillips.  He was the captain of the ship, Maersk Alabama.  One day, he was directing his ship when pirates from and island called Somalia, came and pirated his ship.  So, the captain and the crew make a plan.  Only the captain was in the deck and the rest of the crew was hiding.  But the pirates urge the captain to show the rest of the crew.  He shows them.  But still, the pirates want cash.  The captain gives them $30,000.  The pirate captain agrees, but one of the pirates said that he had to give them millions of dollars.  The captain does not have that much money.  So, the pirates take the captain in their boat and go to their island.  The captain tries to escape somehow many times but he could not.  One time, he pushes one of the pirates into the water and he himself jumps in the water, but the pirates catch him.  Then, the U.S Navy comes to rescue the captain, but the pirates were firm and would not let the captain go unless he gave them a million dollars.  So the Navy takes the pirate captain in their ship and puts him in jail and for the rest of the pirates, the Navy shoots them in the boat which they took the captain in.  at last, the captain was safe.  This was a nice movie.

273. The Adventures of Huck Finn.

This was the story about a boy named Huck Finn and his friend, the runaway slave, Jim.  The problem was, all the people wanted to murder Jim because he was a runaway slave and they think that he killed Huck Finn.  So, Huck does not tell his original name to the people because everybody thinks he was dead.  Jim wanted to go to Cairo to become free from this entire problem, so, him and Huck travel in a boat.  They stop at places and live in people’s houses.  One time, they stop at a rich man’s house and Huck says that his name was George.  There also, the people treat Jim like a slave and they allow Huck to be a part of their family.  But, the daughter of the rich man runs away with a Shepherdson.  To find her, the son of the rich man and the rich man himself goes out.  But, the members of the Shepherdson family shoot them and they die.  So, Huck and Jim start their boat journey.  But when they ask the way to some people, they say that Cairo was 40 miles back.  So, they row backward and reach some other place, from where they go in a ship to Cairo.  There, they find two men, who named themselves King and Duke.  Huck and Jim go to them for help.  The King and Duke know that they are Huck and Jim.  So, they tell them that they won’t tell anyone that they both are runaways.  Just then, they hear that a rich man named Peter Wilks died and his two brothers, Harvey Wilks, who is a preacher and William Wilks, who is deaf and dumb did not come yet.  So, the King and Duke, who were frauds, dress themselves as the brothers and go to steal the money.  The three daughters of Peter, Mary Jane, Julia and Susan think that they are the brothers and invite them into the house.  After some time, the King and Duke steal the money which was given to them in the will of Peter Wilks and decide to go off.  Just then, Huck sees them taking the money and he goes and tells to Mary Jane that they are stealing the money.  After a few days, the two original brothers arrive.  They ask the King and Duke to prove that they are the two brothers asking them a question.  They answer it wrongly.  Just then, Huck and Jim, who were there, run away.  The men shoot at them, but they escape.  Suddenly, a bullet hit Huck and he falls down.  There was also the harbour where the ship to Cairo was going.  Seeing Huck in this condition, Jim refused to go to Cairo.  So, the men catch Jim and Huck and try to hang Jim, but Mary Jane and her sisters come and tell them to let Jim free.  So, the men put hot tar on the faces of the two frauds, King and Duke and set the two friends free.  Then, Huck recovers from the injury and Jim was not a runaway slave anymore.  They both lived happily ever after.  This was a nice movie.

271. The Hunt for the Golden book - part 1.

It has become 10 years since Geronimo has started writing his books.  It was his writings’ 10^th anniversary.  He has written over 75 books during the decade.  So, his grandfather says him to write a book as his 10^th anniversary – special.  Geronimo names that book ‘the Golden Book’ and starts writing the book.  In that book, he writes about two different stories.  Geronimo’s relatives call and tell him to organize a party, but Geronimo is not interested in all that.  His no. 1 enemy, Sally Ratmousen, tells him that he is showing off.  Then, when the arrangements of the party are made, Sally comes and puts chilli powder in the cake and makes the roses stink.  She does all this to ruin the party.  Her last trick was to steal Geronimo’s laptop, in which he had the only copy of ‘the Golden Book’.  One day, Geronimo was writing so much that he became tired and fell asleep, hitting the top of the laptop so hard that there occurred a dent on the laptop’s surface and a bump on his head.  Sally steals the laptop at that time.  She calls that computer repair centre and tells them to take Geronimo’s computer.  When Geronimo wakes up, he found that there was a bump on his head and that his laptop was missing.  Somehow, he, Thea, Trap and Benjamin find out the plane which was taking his computer and get into it.  When Geronimo saw, there were more than 500 more computers like his!  How could he find his computer?  Suddenly, Benjamin says Geronimo to recall that he made a dent or something in the computer.  Geronimo remembered the dent on the laptop and found out his computer.  Then, they rush out and give the laptop to the press to publish the book and they, with all their friends, rebuild the party which Sally damaged.  Then, on the day of the party, the book was released, but the title was ‘the Hunt for the Golden Book’ because of the entire search for Geronimo’s laptop.  When she heard that Geronimo was having his party, was Sally Ratmousen mad!  I liked this book very much and wait for the second part of the book – the Lake Monster.

270. The stinky cheese vacation.

In this book, Geronimo’s uncle, Samuel Stingysnout, who is the stingiest mouse in the whole of Mouse Island, calls Geronimo and tells him that he is very sick and is going to die.  He says he has seven requests.  Geronimo, who is soft – hearted, goes to see his uncle right away.  There, uncle Stingysnout makes Geronimo clean his whole house, plant flowers in the garden, etc.  Actually, uncle Stingysnout was alright.  He wanted to turn his big house, which was like a castle, to an inn.  The first customer was the greatest female singer of Mouse Island.  When Geronimo says that this is not an inn but a house, his relatives, Thea, Trap and Benjamin come to him and give him a flyer.  In that, there was the castle and it said that it was an inn!  Geronimo was very surprised.  When he went to Uncle Stingysnout to scold him, he saw him holding a map.  He told Geronimo that there was treasure in the castle.  Together all of them go and find the treasure which was in the cellar.  The treasure was 10 rare cheese rinds!  How exciting!  When uncle Stingysnout tells that the 10 rinds are his, Geronimo’s friend, Hercule Poirat does not allow him to take everything.  He shared everything among the others.  It was a nice book, and I feel sorry for Geronimo because he had to do all this work!

269. Rosa and the Magic Dream.

Rosa was standing in the line to get into the auditioning to go into the Royal Ballet School.  First, Rosa went into a studio to dance.  She danced without any mistakes.  She was forgetting that there were examiners watching her and was enjoying herself.  Then she had to go to a writing test.  Rosa wrote as much as she could about the dreams of becoming a ballerina.  Then, they have to go to a doctor to check if they were healthy.  Finally, it was time to do an interview with the school headmaster.  When Rosa was waiting for her turn, a mean girl named Sukie comes to Rosa and tells her that there is a magic room upstairs and tells her to go up.  When Rosa goes up, she forgets the way back and suddenly her magic shoes starts sparkling and she was whisked away to Enchantia.

She is taken to the woods in Enchantia.  She hears someone calling her name for help, but she couldn’t figure out who it was.  Just then, a carriage comes and stops in front of her.  Inside it was a fairy.  She tells Rosa that her name was Serendipity and she was Nutmeg, Rosa’s fairy – friend’s friend.  She also said that she had come to take Rosa to her palace.  Actually, Serendipity was the Wicked Fairy, dressed as Nutmeg’s friend.  When Serendipity gives Rosa tea cakes in her palace, Rosa completely forgets about Nutmeg.  After sometime, Serendipity tells Rosa to remove her magic ballet shoes and give her beautiful cut – shoes and a frock.  Then Serendipity secretly keeps Rosa’s magic ballet shoes in a cupboard in a forbidden room.  But, a maid blabbers something to Rosa and Rosa finally gets her ballet shoes back.  When she dances, the spell broke and the wicked fairy, her maids and footmen return to their old, wicked selves.  The wicked fairy did all this to prevent Rosa from going to the royal palace because there was going to be a coronation ceremony held and if only Rosa dances, the coronation will be made.  But somehow, Rosa goes to the palace.  In the way, Rosa rescues Nutmeg, who was put in a big cage by the wicked fairy and who first called Rosa for help in the beginning.  Then, Rosa goes to the royal palace and dances and the coronation is made.  Then, her magic ballet shoes bring her to the normal world. 

After that, Rosa remembered all that had happened – Sukie came and told her to go upstairs and she was there and she forgot her way back.  Suddenly, Rosa remembered her way back and went to the audition and she and her friend got selected for the Royal Ballet School dance.  This was a nice book and I liked it.
