232. The Christmas Carol.

This book was written by Charles Dickens.  That book was taken as a movie.  In that movie, an old man named Scrooge, who did not like Christmas and did not celebrate it, had a partner who died 7 years ago.  They together owned a dealing shop.  One night, Scrooge went home after finishing the work at the shop.  There, the spirit if his dead friend comes alive and threatens him that three spirits will come, The Spirit of Christmas Past, The Spirit of Christmas Present and The Spirit of Christmas Future.  That night, when he was sleeping, the first Spirit appears and takes him to his childhood when he loved Christmas.  After some time, the second Spirit appears and takes him to his present, where his assistant and his nephew spoke hatred words about him.  At last, the third Spirit appears and takes him to his future, where he died on the day of Christmas.  But, it was all a dream!  He had dreamed.  After that scary dream, he always liked Christmas more than anyone.  

 It was a ghost - like film after-all.  I had a lesson based on this book, but about Earth day in English.  That story's name was 'The Earth Day Carol'.

231. My trip to Mandakkadu Temple.

One day, me, my sister, my mother and my grandma went to Mandakkadu Temple.  We arrived there.  We gave the Pooja things to the priest, who in return cooked and gave us the food at last.  Then, in the Ganapathy Temple, me and my sister broke coconuts.  Then we did Pooja and went to see the sea.  We stood there for sometime and came back to the temple again.  There we lighted some Diyas (mud lamps).  She it was time for the Pooja.  After finishing the Pooja, we collected our food from the priest and came back home.  It was a fantastic experience.

230. Rain experience.

Usually, I don't like rain.  It was a rainy day.  It rained a lot.  So, my mother, my sister and me made a lot of paper boats and floated them outside our house, in a puddle in the garden etc.  Then in the evening to Pinnara, our farm and floated some more paper boats.  This was a wonderful experience which made me love rain.

229. My trip to Thirparappu Waterfalls.

Today, there was no rain in the afternoon.  So, we decided to go to Thirparappu Waterfalls.  It was only 5 km away from our home.  We reached there.  Then my mother took some photos.  We saw two ponds, a small one and a large one. Then we went to the waterfalls.  When I went there and bathed, I felt like stones hitting my head and back.  We had a wonderful time.  Then we went to the park called 'திர்பரப்பு மாநகராட்சி பூங்கா’.  We played in the monkey-bars. We did not play in the slides because the previous day it had rained and it was full of mud and puddles.  There were people who ate their lunch sitting in the park.  Then we went to the Chappath (சப்பாத்).  That was a bridge.  Under it was a waterfall - like pond.  There we saw and elephant bathing.  Then my mother took some photos of me standing near a dinosaur statue.  There was also boating.  It was a superb experience and the best bath in my life.

228. 'Pinnara' experience.

We have a field.  There are many trees and sapling.  That field is called Pinnara. One day, me and my mother went to that field, because we wanted banana leaves.  First, my mother showed and explained about about betel nut tree because I had a doubt about it in Tamil.  Then she explained about some banana trees.  Then I touched some touch - me - nots.  They shrinked and soon bloomed.  Then was the nice part.  There was a leaf with wax coating.  I took a little water from a small stream that was flowing.  When I put the water in the leaf, it fell in the leaf like crystals.  It was a natural experience.    

227. A Smile.

A big smile,
Travels a mile.
We smile to everyone,
We like and love.
A smile is a big U,
With love and kindness it is wove.
Smile is the opposite of cry,
We smile cunningly when we lie.
Smiling is much better than crying,
and also better than lying.

                     "A smile is the prettiest

226. സ്വപ്നം.

രണ്ട് കൂട്ടുകാരിമാർ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.  അവരുടെ സൗഹൃദം വളരെ അടുപ്പമായിരുന്നു.  അവരുടെ പേര് ദിയയും താരയുമായിരുന്നു.  ഒരു ദിവസം അവരുടെ അദ്ധ്യാപകൻ അവരോട് ഒരു നാടക മത്സരത്തെ കുറിച്ചു അറിയിച്ചു.  ആ നാടകം 'സൗഹൃദം' എന്നതിനെ കുറിച്ചാണ്.  അന്ന് രാത്രി, താര ഉറങ്ങുമ്പോൾ, അവള്ക്ക് ഒരു സ്വപ്നം ഉണ്ടായി.  ആ സ്വപ്നത്തിൽ ദിയയും താരയും അമേരിക്കയിൽ ഒരു പള്ളി കൂടത്തിൽ പഠിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.  അത് അവരുടെ മുമ്ബൽത്തെ ജന്മമായിരുന്നു.  അവിടെയും, അവരുടെ അദ്ധ്യാപകൻ ഒരു നാടക മത്സരത്തെ അറിയിച്ചു.  അടുത്ത ദിവസം, അവൾ ഇതിനെ ദിയയോടു പരഞ്ഞു.  ദിയക്കും അതീ സ്വപ്നം തന്നെയാണ് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നത്.  അവർ അതിനെ നാടകമായിട്ടു അഭിനയിച്ചു ആദ്യത്തെ സമ്മാനം നേടി.  അവർ ആ സ്വപ്നത്തെ എന്നാളും മറക്കില്ല.  

225. கனவு.

இரண்டு நண்பர்கள் இருந்தார்கள்.  அவர்கள் மிக நெருங்கிய நண்பர்கள்.  அவர்களுடைய பெயர்கள் தியா மற்றும் தாரா.  ஒரு நாள் அவருடைய ஒரு நாடகப் போட்டியை அறிவித்தார்.  அதன் தலைப்பு ‘நட்பு’ ஆகும்.  அந்த இரவு, தாரா தூங்கும்போது, அவளுக்கு ஒரு கனவு வந்தது.  அக் கனவு அவர் இருவருடைய சென்ற பிறவியைப் பற்றியது.  அதில் அவர்கள் இருவரும் அமேரிக்கர்கள்.  அவர்கள் ஓர் அமேரிக்கப் பள்ளியில் படித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தனர்.  அப்போது, இப் பிறவி போல அவர்களுடைய ஆசிரியர் ஒரு நாடகப் போட்டியை அறிவிக்கிறார்.  அடுத்த நாள், தாரா இதைப் பற்றி தியாவிடம் கூறினாள்.  என்ன ஒரு ஆச்சரியம்!  தியாவுக்கும் அதே கனவு தான் உண்டானது.  அதனால், அவர்களது குழுவினரோடு இதைப் பற்றிப் பேசினர்.  போட்டி அன்றூ, அவர்கள் இந்த நாடகத்தை நடித்து முதல் பரிசு பெற்றனர்.  என்ன ஒரு கனவு!  தியாவும் தாராவும் அக் கனவை எந்நாளும் மறக்கவே மாட்டார்கள்!

224. The dream.

There were two friends.  They were so close.  Their names were Diya and Tara.  One day, in their school their class teacher announced that there would be a skit on the topic 'friendship'.  That night, when Tara was sleeping, she had a dream like in the two friend's past birth, they were studying in America because they were Americans in that birth.  In that birth too they were close friends.  A teacher announces about the skit competition.  The next day, Tara told about this dream to Diya.  What a surprise!  Diya also had the same dream.  So, they discussed about this idea to their group-mates.  They all performed this idea on the day of the competition and won the first prize.  Oh, what a dream!  Diya and Tara could not forget that dream forever.
